[ Either way.. Weiss can't help but have one more demand that she has to make. It'll probably be tough on both of them, but.. She doesn't feel like she can trust anyone, and hasn't for quite some time. ]
From here on out, we both have to be completely honest with each other or this isn't going to work.
[well, that was something he really wanted to hear from her.]
You have my word.
[and he would keep it. she was the person he felt closest to in this place. he did need an ally... and it didn't hurt to have her around as a companion.]
[ That was one thing she knew she couldn't lie about. After all, this entire situation had turned her world upside down. All this anxiety wasn't going to just go away in a day because she made up with Adam. ]
[ Her voice sounded hesitant as she asked, as though she wasn't entirely sure if it was okay to ask since the last time he showed his scars was obviously a heat-of-the-moment type of situation. ]
but yes, adam makes a sound at that, then he simply hangs up. he'll be waiting around his own cell for her... but since she is taking so long he's just laying down on his cot, book in hand.]
[ It'll probably be obvious why she's taking so long, considering that when she arrives, she's not dressed in the jumpsuit but rather an outfit of her own design. It may have cost a bit of money but she still had enough left for a little while. She hadn't quite felt like wearing it since she'd used her CP to get it the day before the Battle Royale started. It was her Christmas treat to herself, but if Adam looked closely she was wearing the earrings he'd gotten for her as well. They weren't actually very hidden since she had her hair back properly. ]
[he put his book down when he heard her enter his cell. adam sat up, glancing over at her.. and seeing her new outfit. what really caught his eye though, was the fact that she was wearing the earrings that he got her. ah... well, that made him happy, honestly. he didn't show it on the outside though, he just kept his deadpan stare.
he didn't have his mask or sunglasses on though, so it was clear where he was looking. either way, he stopped staring and looked at her properly now.]
Yeah, of course. [okay... adam got up from his cot, turning around so he was facing it again. he began to take off his jacket as he spoke up.] You only saw a glimpse of them before but... they're pretty bad.
[so he didn't want her to choke up about it or anything.] It happened a long time ago.
[ That felt like the right move to her. Not because she wasn't okay with standing in the doorway, but.. well, she wanted him to know that she wasn't about to flee again. Especially since she knew that there was no way that her discomfort wouldn't show on her face. The idea that her family's actions had resulted in this wasn't something that she liked to face, but..
[he gestured for her to sit down on his cot, placing his jacket on the edge of it as he did so. next, adam went to grab the hem of his shirt, pulling it up and over his head. he did it with relative ease, so it was off rather quickly but.... that just meant now that weiss was able to see his bare torso. adam placed his shirt beside his jacket, and he turned so weiss could see his front.
just like his stomach, his body was riddled with scars. long slashes and cuts traveled down his muscular physique. he looked down at weiss, then just glanced off to the side. he didn't like feeling like he was part of a show, but... she had asked to see. years of training sculpted his body, he was rather built underneath the layers he wore. even so, it didn't look all that promising with the scars all over his body.]
[ Weiss sat down as soon as he'd said it was fine. That put him closer to the door than her. Even if she could still easily run if she wanted to, she didn't want to and she'd wanted to show him. Running away after he'd showed her this yesterday had been a bad move. She knew that it probably took a lot for someone to open up about something like this.. after all, Weiss didn't even like it when someone asked about the scar over her eye.
Weiss watched his body carefully. She clearly wasn't appreciating it like it was a show put on just for her, or in any way appreciating his musculature or the view. She'd noticed it, but her mind was far from anything that most girls would think about when a guy takes off their shirt for them. She focused in on the scars, her expression serious but sympathetic.
Honestly, she knew that there wouldn't have been anything she could have done for him at any point. If he was 10, that would make her.. what? 8? She wasn't exactly sure how old he was, but at that point there was nothing she could have done. There was nothing she could have done now, and any hopes of changing that system? Dashed. Being in prison meant that she wouldn't inherit the company unless she was acquitted completely. Even if she wanted to help, it wouldn't change Adam's past. As much as Weiss had been through her own share of nightmares, they were mere uncomfortable dreams compared to what Adam had been through-- that was painted clearly on his body.
Weiss reached her hand out slowly, as though to touch them and make sure that they were real. They were obviously old, it matched his story. Part of her still scrambled to find alternate scenarios, possibilities that vindicated those in her life of this crime, but.. As her fingers grazed across one of the scars, she knew that there was no way. She had to stop trying to deny it. This was the work that she had been so prepared to inherit. It was no wonder her father wanted her to learn how to use a weapon.
She didn't agree with the White Fang and she would never approve of their methods, but a little more than before, Weiss could understand why they fought. ]
[adam's gaze went back to weiss after a moment or two, and he saw that expression of hers. he could read it well enough, she was thinking about the white fang, about her family, and about what had been done to him. he still never understood why it had to be him and the rest that was taken in and treated so poorly. they were just minding their own business... but just because they were poor, because they couldn't fight back, they were forced to work for the schnee company.
it had been a horrible time, and eventually adam left it in order to join the white fang.
when he felt her touch his skin, his scars, he had to tell himself not to shy away from her touch. it had been forever since he felt anyone even... do something so intimate with him, he couldn't even remember the last time. so feeling her fingers gliding along his skin made him tense and he swallowed hard. adam simply brought a hand up to her, placing it over her hand to press a little harder against his flesh.]
This was in the past... but this is also why I fought for so many years, Weiss.
[ Those were the first words to come out of her mouth. For a brief moment, she considered leaving it at that. There was no way he could think that she would ever agree with what sorts of things he'd done. Her voice was quiet, but she figured.. if he was sharing, she might as well share a little too. Prove that she really did understand. ]
My father isn't the forgiving type even to people in his family or I wouldn't be here. I might not have as many, but I didn't get this in a biking accident. I always blamed the White Fang, because if the White Fang didn't keep attacking our family, my father would have come home in a much better mood. It's not.. that far of a stretch, considering the things I went through even as a member of his family, to believe that something like this would happen. I didn't want to see it, so I didn't.
[ That happened a lot more than she wished it would. Weiss was fairly certain that she had much growing up to do before she understood how to make sure that she was always doing what she thought was right and having that based on what was actually happening. She blamed the White Fang for so much, and she couldn't take that blame away but she could understand why it happened now. ]
I'm sorry that you went through so much worse because of my family, Adam.

[adam listened to her, his hand still staying atop hers. he knew all about her family and what they were capable of, he didn't think that her own father would take it all out on her as well.
after he listened, he thought to himself what had happened to her growing up as well. adam reached out to her, his finger grazing over the scar on her eyebrow.]
We shouldn't have any scars, it doesn't matter how many we have.
[it was why he fought, so no one would have to go through this again. if he had to kill to get his way, then he would certainly do it.]
And I'm sorry for you, as well.
[they both knew what it was like, and they were on opposite ends of the rivalries.]
[ When Adam's thumb went to touch her face, Weiss closed that eye reflexively. After a few seconds, she opened it up again. She wasn't exactly sure how to react, but she did trust him. For everything that had happened and everything she knew, she trusted him to touch her just has he trusted her. She didn't pull away. ]
Neither of our affiliations matter anymore, do they?
[ All things considered, she just liked him. The White Fang, not so much, but Adam wasn't the White Fang just as much as she wasn't Schnee Company. A rose by any other name and all that. ]
...They might have mattered once. However, now that we're in here... no, they don't matter.
[everything that has happened, he knows that there's no way he could go back to being the same old white fang member. he knew too much, too much of her, and couldn't return to those ways anyways.]
[ Perhaps it was a selfish thought, but Adam was basically the only one that Weiss trusted. She had a little over a decade in prison, but she did so much less than Adam had. She didn't know what all he'd been convicted of out of what he'd admitted to her, but it sounded like he would be in here a lot longer. Maybe it was a stupid teenage thought, since she barely knew him, but Weiss was honestly a little bit worried that when she got out of prison she'd just be alone again. ]
the man stared down at her, his frown deepening. he knew just what she was getting at, she wanted to know if he got out if they would still talk to one another. he wanted that as well, honestly, but it was impossible.
adam moved away from her so they were no longer touching one another, and he went to go go grab his shirt in order to put it back on.]
I'm in here for life.
[there was no use in hiding it from her, so he just said it bluntly as he got himself dressed again.]
[ He'd pulled away at that. That was when Weiss knew that he knew exactly why she was asking. Anyone she met here and got along with, as soon as she was out they would probably never see each other again. That included Adam.
That feeling she had like she wasn't alone slipped away with his hand. ]
Oh.
[ For a brief moment, Weiss wasn't actually sure what to say. For once. ]
I've got 12 and a half, but I was planning on getting early parole.
adam sighed at that, once his shirt was back on at least, then turned to look over at her. he was frustrated that he couldn't leave here with her but...]
That's good. You should try and get out of here as soon as you can. It's... way too messed up here.
[ah.... adam looks over at her, blinking. he didn't think that she would actually want to keep in contact.. maybe they were closer than he initially figured.]
I'd like that. [and he even smiled lightly at that.]
[ She called him in the first place to make sure to apologize and try to understand, but she also needed to make sure they were both on good grounds here.
Well, standable grounds. It was kind of hard to call what she found out today 'good.' ]
voice;

voice;
[ Not that calling Adam to make up with him was the first thing on her list that day or anything.. but she did kind of call him in her pajamas.
..Either way, it's taking her a good 40 minutes to get ready so he's going to be waiting a bit. ]
voice;
