[It had been a week or so since their spout with one another. The rest of their time had been silent without speaking with one another... Maybe that was better for him, if that's what he really wanted.
Either or, walking back from the library with her own ingredients for something at home, she picked up a rather warm bowl of egg drop soup, noodles with beef bits in it and seasoned a little spicy, variety of juices and custard buns for something sweet.
When she found herself at his door, she hesitated and knocked. First nothing. She leaned her ear to his door but then pulled away from her own fear of hearing things she had heard back in HQ whenever he might of had 'company' over.
Looking down the hallway then back, finding it rather remote, it felt like it was a good enough place to keep it at his door. So she knelt down and set it in front of it, arranging everything carefully. She didn't have to say write anything or let him know she did it, she just hoped he'd eat.
Pushing herself up, she gave one last small knock to his door before turning to go back down the hallway to the exit.]
[he had heard the first knock, but he hadn't responded. however he heard the shuffling from outside his door and he could only guess who that even was.
adam sighed and he left his kitchen to go over to the door. that was when she knocked a second time, and as she was walking away he opened up the door. he looked down the hall and saw blake just leaving, and he blinked a few times before he looked down and saw what she had left him.]
Hm.... at least it's not a homemade meal. [hers were always so horrible when they were growing up.... but he was grateful for this, despite how he reacted to it. she was right, he did forget to eat all the time, and now was no exception. she would obviously hear him, but he didn't know if she was going to stay around or not.]
[Stopping short of hearing the door open, near the opening of the stairs leading down and out, she stole a glance back over her shoulder at him curiously.] They weren't t hat bad. I've improved since then.
[So she'd like to believe. School wasn't exactly a culinary area to practice but the time she had left him prior to finally going TO Beacon, she spent learning how to fully take care of herself.
She returned from her shift at the library and was still dressed for the job.] Just had to make sure you were still eating and not wasting away.
[he frowned at the memory, not even wanting to go down that path again. as he knelt down to grab his food he looked over at her.... and at what she was wearing. she was gorgeous, seriously, and he was still kicking himself over not confessing to her sooner.
oh well, she's with someone better than him, that was good.]
Yeah well, you never ate so it was also partly punishment.
[Walking back over, the pointed in to the bag.] There's some extra in the containers that you can hopefully eat over the next few days if you don't feel like going out or making anything yourself. I also packed some extra bread since it's a rather good snack to have.
[She paused at his compliment and blinked curiously up at him before looking down at herself.] Oh..sorry, I was at work. I should of changed out of this thing.
They make us wear nice clothes for a place hardly no one comes in.
[uh huh.... food, food and more food. well, he still wasn't really in the mood to eat, but he would try. adam sighed and then stood up with the bag in hand. he nodded at her in silent thanks, not feeling up to talking much either.]
It suits you. [short, blunt, to the point. he would have come and visited her more, but now he knows that just isn't his place anymore. they have two very different paths to go down.]
[Tipping her head, she noticed he wasn't really saying much still. Even if it had been days since their talk and a bit longer from what happened in the forest...]
Have you been eating at all?
[If he's really going to distance himself from her then she can't stop him... It will hurt but- if that's what makes him happy and comfortable in the end.] Thank you.
[rarely, but he has been eating at least. adam looked away from her, not really wanting to speak much anymore.... but then he heard her ask how he was doing. he still had his mask on now, and it was obvious that he was going back to being overly quiet, anti-social, and just wanting to get his own mission done for his own sake.
yes, he was going back to being a monster indeed.]
Fine. [he frowned further.] ...it was the strangest thing, Weiss visited me the other day and asked me to train her. And the strangest par is I agreed to help her.
[too weird. he sighed.] So, if you are ever needing to hone your skills again, I suppose I'm doing sparring sessions now. Don't worry, I'm not using Dust. I have far too low of a supply as it is, and I don't want to run out.
[even if he does have it embedded in his clothes, in himself.]
[And Weiss didn't tell her that at all... She blinked only to glance away in thought. Of course, leave it to the real princess to calm him. But at the mention of sparring- it was something she should probably do to keep her skills up. She shouldn't really spend her time in the library and get rusty completely.
Giving a small nod at that, she stepped back away from him again, at least giving him his space.]
Mm, I'll keep that in mind then. [She would at least. Following through with it? That would be another thing...] I'll just uh- leave you to your food then.
well, he knew it was all she had ever done, and he had come to accept that she did that whenever she felt remotely uncomfortable. adam sighed, then he looked down and rummaged through the bag.]
Want to come inside? [she was still free to leave if she wanted, but he did want to establish a relationship with her again. she would be allowed to stay with him if she ever wanted or leave if she wanted. he was still in love with her, and he still wanted her to be okay. he just wanted to ask her what was wrong, but he doubted she would tell him.]
[As much as she wanted to her own thoughts were being her worst enemy again. Thoughts she lost the right to have.
She gave a small smile and shook her head.] Thank you but I should probably get back before it gets too late out.
[Which, was true. She at least wanted to get back before Frost decided it was okay to take her room and she had to sleep on the fridge top again.] Just make sure to eat this time.
[he nodded just a little at her words, understanding that she just wanted to leave. but he still didn't understand- if she kept wanting to run away, why did she keep coming to find him? why did she keep leaving him food and checking in on him?
he knew, of course. she obviously cared immensely about him still, but it seemed as though it was too hard to get back into any sort of proper rhythm again.]
..What's the matter, Blake? [he stared down at her from behind his mask, his frown deepening.]
Of course- you don't have to tell me anything. [by now, he's expecting it. she used to tell him everything, but now she's shut him out entirely with most things.]
[Getting either of them to say what was really on their minds was the most difficult thing in the world even after they confessed everything in the forest. It seemed those boundaries were up again and they were guarding themselves from one another.
But- maybe that was for the best. If Weiss could help him feel normal again then that was for the best. Her own presence there would just make things worse.
Shaking her head with another small smile to try and throw off his worry, she held up her hands.] It's nothing to worry over. You have enough going on that you need to focus on you. Take care of yourself first.
[...alright, she was still hurting- and she was still bothered, but she refused to tell him. that's fine, if she wanted to be that way then so be it.
adam grunted in response and nodded at her. he held up her bag a little as he spoke.]
Thank you for this, really. [she knew how bad he was at remembering to take proper care of himself. he would make a mental note to come and check up on her sometimes in the library too, if she would ever allow that of him.]
Go on back then, Blake. Your friends are probably waiting for you. [and sun, too.]
[With another small nod she watched him for a moment before taking another step back. It was hard to tell when another goodbye would lead to one of them never seeing one another again. Then again, it was probably something she deserved after what she had done back on the train car.
It still didn't make it hurt any less or the fear subside at the thought of leaving only to never see one another again.
She glanced up at the slits in his mask where she thought his eyes would be for a moment before casting her look back down. Unsure of what to even say no, she gave a small wave and turned to leave back down the hallway.]
